The years have gone by, and recently, I thought I'd look for some comic strips or football stories, which my young lad and other kids could read. I can't find any at all. I was amazed! Has this generation moved on from the days of "Racey's Rocket", and Billy's Magical Boots? If so, it is a poorer world for it.
Then I thought that if the stories were not already out there, I'd write my own. So here it is. My story of a young eighteen year old called Andy Hawke.
Andy is a young lad, average height, average looks, who dreams of playing professional football. He watches the Premiership and La Liga avidly on Sky Sports, and hopes one day that the camera will follow him as he plays football.
Andy hopes one day, as all young players do, to lead his team out at Wembley at an FA Cup Final, and also to play for his country, England.
I have used the names of football clubs from Roy of the Rovers comic. I hope no copyright has been infringed. I just remember these names fondly from my own youth, and hope that their reappearance will inspire someone else to read football stories.
It is my intention to try and add a new section on a regular basis. Please bear with me if I don't have the opportunity to do this every week. If you'd like to email me with your comments on the website, Roy of the Rovers, Tiger or the stories, I would be pleased to hear from you. In the meantime, please click below to either go to a linked website, or one of the chapters in the story.
